Quality Features of Countertops – Glass and Recycled Paper
Glass and Recycled Glass
Both of these options tend to be an expensive alternative but give a definite WOW factor to any kitchen design. Glass tops are usually quite thick and can have an array of textures and movement. They are non porous but are subject to cracks and scratches.
Recycled glass is very popular with clients that want to have a “green” material used in their design. Broken class chips are mixed with epoxy or cement and poured into slabs which then get cut and fabricated much like stone tops.
Both glass and recycled glass are an expensive option but look beautiful as accent pieces in any design.
Recycled Paper Surfaces
A post consumer recycled paper and resin product that is impact resistant. Minor scratches and stains can be very lightly sanded and the manufacturer finish reapplied. It is recommended that this type of product be fabricated by trained professional wood workers using high quality tools. Cutting, routing and edging is similar to that of fine hardwoods.
